Terms and Conditions

Last updated: October 17, 2026

These terms govern your use of Roadbook, a motorcycle and car pleasure-ride planning application available at app.roadbookgps.com (the "Service"). By using Roadbook, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. Who we are

Roadbook is operated by Jeremy Tangren, an individual developer, not a company. You can reach us at [email protected].

2. The Service

Roadbook is built for the weekend rider planning a pleasure ride: it optimizes for enjoyment, not the fastest path. The default profile favors backroads and paved surfaces over highways. Roadbook works offline-first — your rides live on your device — with optional cloud sync (via Google sign-in) to carry your saved rides across devices. See our Privacy Policy for how your data is handled.

Route suggestions, distance/time estimates, and weather information are provided for planning purposes only. Road conditions, closures, weather, and traffic change — always use your own judgment and current information when actually riding, and follow all applicable traffic laws.

3. Who can use Roadbook

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By using Roadbook, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that your use complies with applicable law.

4. Accounts

No account is required to use Roadbook's core planning features. If you choose to sign in (via Google) to enable cloud sync, you're responsible for keeping access to that account secure. We may suspend or terminate access for use that violates these terms.

4a. Plans, payment and cancellation

Roadbook has four levels of access: Not signed in, Free (signed in), Subscriber (paid) and Unlimited. Unlimited is granted by us at our discretion and is not for sale. What each level includes (for example how many cloud rides, share links and waypoints, and which features) is shown in the app and on the Subscriber page. We may change what a plan includes; if we do, we will update those pages, and a change that takes something away from a Subscriber will not apply until their current paid period ends.

What you pay

Subscriber costs US$1 per month. It is the only paid plan today. The price is shown before you pay, and sales tax or VAT is added where it applies, as worked out by Stripe at checkout. Payment is by card (or another method Stripe offers at checkout) through Stripe, our payment processor. You enter your payment details on Stripe's own pages; Roadbook never sees or stores them. See the Privacy Policy for what we share with Stripe.

Renewal

A Subscriber plan renews automatically every month, on the day you first subscribed, and your payment method is charged for the next month, until you cancel. By subscribing you authorize those recurring charges. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe may retry it for a few days; your Subscriber access continues during the retries. If the payment still cannot be collected, the subscription ends and your account returns to Free.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from the account menu: Manage subscription opens Stripe's billing page, where you can cancel, update your card and see your invoices. Cancelling stops future charges. You keep Subscriber access until the end of the month you have already paid for, then your account returns to Free. You can also delete your account (see below), which cancels the subscription straight away.

Refunds

Payments are not refundable, and we do not give a partial refund for the rest of a month after you cancel or delete your account, except where the law of your country or state requires it. If you think you were charged by mistake, write to us within 30 days at the address in section 15 and we will look into it.

Price changes

We may change the price of a plan. We will tell you by email or in the app before the new price applies to your next renewal, and the new price applies only from that renewal. If you do not want it, cancel before it takes effect.

When you downgrade or delete your account

If your Subscriber access ends, nothing you saved is deleted because of that. Your trips, notes and settings stay in your account. If you have more than the Free plan allows (for example more than 5 cloud rides), you can still open, edit and delete them, but you cannot create new ones until you are back under the Free limits. Features that need a paid plan stop working until you subscribe again. Share links you created keep working until they expire, and links you create after the downgrade use the Free plan's lifetime.

If you delete your account, we cancel any active subscription first, then delete your account and synced data as described in the Privacy Policy (section 5). If we cannot cancel the subscription, the account is not deleted, so you are never left paying for an account that no longer exists. We also ask Stripe to delete your customer record (your email, billing details and tax information). Stripe still keeps its own payment records, such as invoices, for as long as the law requires, and we cannot delete those.

5. Your rides and content

Routes, waypoints, saved trip names, and journal notes you create in Roadbook are yours. We don't claim ownership over them — we store and sync them so the app can do its job, as described in the Privacy Policy. Roadbook currently has no public feed or user-to-user content sharing beyond the shareable route links you generate and choose to send yourself; if you use that feature, you're responsible for who you share a link with, since anyone with the link can view that route.

If you send us feedback, bug reports, or suggestions, you agree we can use them to improve Roadbook without any obligation to you.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

7. Third-party services

Roadbook relies on third-party providers to work — including Supabase (authentication and cloud storage), Google (sign-in), Cloudflare (hosting, bot checks and analytics), Stripe (payments), Stadia Maps and Protomaps (routing, geocoding and map tiles), TomTom (live traffic), Open-Meteo (weather), Resend (email), Sentry (error reports) and Asana (bug reports). Their availability, accuracy, and performance are outside our control, and their own terms and privacy policies apply to your use of them. We're not responsible for outages, inaccuracies, or issues originating from these third parties.

8. Intellectual property

Roadbook's design, code, and branding belong to Jeremy Tangren. You may use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial ride planning. You may not copy, redistribute, or exploit the Service commercially without our prior written permission.

9. Changes and availability

We may change, update, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We'll try to give notice of significant changes, but we don't guarantee the Service will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted — Roadbook is a small, independently-run project.

10. Disclaimer

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. ROUTE, WEATHER, AND MAP DATA MAY BE INACCURATE OR OUT OF DATE. YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR SAFETY AND DECISIONS WHILE RIDING OR DRIVING — ROADBOOK IS A PLANNING TOOL, NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR YOUR OWN JUDGMENT, LOCAL KNOWLEDGE, OR APPLICABLE TRAFFIC LAWS.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, JEREMY TANGREN WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE — INCLUDING ANY INJURY, LOSS, OR DAMAGE SUSTAINED WHILE RIDING OR DRIVING A ROUTE PLANNED USING ROADBOOK. SOME JURISDICTIONS DON'T ALLOW THESE LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THEM MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

12. Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time, and delete your account and synced data as described in the Privacy Policy (deleting an account also cancels any subscription; see section 4a). We may suspend or terminate access to the Service for anyone who violates these terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute not resolved informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to that jurisdiction.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for significant changes, note it prominently in the app. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
